Rules of conduct for all parties
These are the common-sense expectations that keep every job safe, lawful and pleasant in California. Booking a service or accepting an assignment means agreeing to them.
If you are a customer
- Give an accurate address, phone number and description of the work. Surprises cost everyone time.
- Have an adult 18 or older present or reachable during the appointment window.
- Secure pets, clear the work area, and point out hazards such as damaged wiring, mold, gas or firearms in the home.
- Do not ask a worker to perform unpermitted, unlicensed or unsafe work — we must decline by law.
- Smoking, drugs, alcohol and weapons are not permitted in the work area during a visit.
- Treat workers with respect. Harassment, discrimination or threats end the appointment immediately and are not refundable.
- Pay the agreed balance on completion. Off-platform side deals void insurance coverage and any warranty.
- Give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule whenever you can.
If you are a worker or contractor
- Hold and maintain every license, bond, permit and insurance policy your trade requires, including a current CSLB license for construction work of $500 or more.
- Carry workers' compensation coverage if you employ anyone, and valid auto insurance for any driving service.
- Arrive on time, in appropriate attire, and identify yourself before entering a home.
- Never begin work before management confirms the appointment and the assignment.
- Follow Cal/OSHA safety practices and all applicable building, electrical and plumbing codes; pull permits when required.
- No alcohol, cannabis or impairing substances before or during a job. No smoking on a customer's property.
- Respect customer privacy and property. Do not photograph, record or share anything without permission.
- Never solicit cash payments off-platform, upsell under pressure, or change the agreed price on site without written approval.
- Report any accident, damage or injury to management the same day.
- You are engaged as an independent professional or employee as documented; classification follows California law.
What ServeHub owes you
- Review and confirm every request personally before any worker is dispatched.
- Verify licensing and insurance documentation before marking a professional as verified.
- Quote prices in writing and never add charges you have not approved.
- Respond to complaints and support messages promptly, and escalate anything involving safety immediately.
- Keep your personal information confidential, encrypted and used only for the service you requested.
- Enforce a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination, harassment and retaliation for anyone on the platform.
Repeated or serious violations may result in cancelled appointments, removal from the platform and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant California licensing board or authorities.
